Improvisation is the ability to make art on the spot. It is something that comes out of us and expresses who we are and how we feel. It is a language that knows no boundaries.

Part 1: The scales

Four essential scales for improvising on guitar are the minor pentatonic, minor blues, major pentatonic, and the major blues scale. The minor blues scale is simply a minor pentatonic scale with a ♭5 also. A Major blues scale is a major pentatonic with a ♭3. Therefore, when learning the blues scales the pentatonic scales are within those two scales.
